Journey Fast Day 21

Let us Be Gentle, Kind, and Loving

Today is the last day of my Journey Fast.

I give deepest gratitude to all of the support that I have received. Our PeaceWeaver community here at Thunder Mountain, in the Finger Lakes of Western New York, has made mighty efforts themselves above and beyond their day to day life and work. Together we have stepped through old limitations and have done the impossible on so many levels. I am eternally grateful to their kindness, consideration, and strength. And what great joy it has been!

Also deepest gratitude to the existing web of PeaceWeavers that have kept in touch often through phone calls and emails. Thank you for reaching out and giving such tender loving support.

Gratitude, as well, to the hundreds and hundreds of Weavers of Peace from around the world that have been following the journey on this blog. People from across the US, France, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, Ecuador, South Africa, England, Kenya, and Russia, your interest has fed and inspired me. Thank you and please keep Weaving Peace in your homes, communities, and countries. Please stay in touch! We are a Worldwide Movement of Peace and Love, so keep moving!

Over these last three weeks through my sharings, I've often expressed that I am in even greater awe and amazement of the Universe. There truly is a Fundamental Harmony that weaves us together as One. Each of us is an essential thread of Love in this Planetary Family Fabric.

May we consciously awaken to the Universal Law that how we take care of our own Body/Mind Temple is how we will turn and take care of all beings. May we open to greater health, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It will strengthen our resolve, dedication, and determination that by creating Peace in our own Body/Mind, together we can create Peace in our World!

I literally am stronger now in every way than before the fast. I am now clearer and more certain that we can move mountains! I chose to step beyond my limitations with the intent that, even in a small way, we all might do the same.

My own personal task now is to break-fast in a sane and balanced way. Then day by day live in greater sensitivity and honor to my own Well-Being and the Well-Being of all others. We can all unlearn our bad habits and learn what foods and liquids fortify our lives. The trick is to stay in tune with our Body Wisdom. Now the real journey begins!

And finally what has kept me going these 21 days have been the Children of the Planet. They are not just our hope, but rather our most precious gifts. They are the innocent ones who are open and trusting and deserve the very best we can give them. May we all step beyond any self absorption, and think, speak, and act on their behalf. They are the diamonds of the Universe, each full of Love and Light. As we tell our kids daily, here at Thunder Mountain, let us be Gentle, Kind, and Loving to one another, and do our very Best!

In Devotion,
Greg Lynn
May the Whole Earth Be Well and Happy!

Journey Fast Day 20

Remembering the Ancient Ones

Today is the 20th day of my water fast. Deeper and deeper awe and gratitude springs up from the fountain of my Soul. Gratitude for the Earth, the Sky, the Water, the Air. Gratitude for the Sun, the Moon, Thunder and Lightning. But the deepest energy springs up for our Ancestors and our Elders. Without their journeys through impossibilities, we would be lost with very little direction. The courage they passed on through their struggles inspires us. The knowledge they passed on from their experiences teaches us. And their legacy is that not only will life continue on, but that we can make it better for the next generation. No matter how their lives looked, they gave us life and the chance to create a more decent and just world. May it be so in our lifetime!

As a community the PeaceWeavers have had and continue to have humble, kind, shining lights as Elders: Bhante Dharmawara, Buddhist monk; Grandpa Harry Blue Thunder, Lakota Chief and traditional Elder; Ingwe from Kenya, guide to many, many youth; Harriet Two Strike, Lakota mother and grandmother to us all, and many others.

Globally,  Elders of Peace for the last several decades have continued to lead the way. Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama, and Thich Nhat Hanh are Shining Beacons of Love and Light who have shown us the nobility of being Human.

And of course, M. K. Gandhi was a Lighthouse of Love and Strength for millions upon millions around the world. Through Gandhi's fasting and courage he inspired a whole nation to break the impossible chains of the British Empire and free itself from tyranny into freedom. His journey and complete devotion to Beings continues to light our way here at Thunder Mountain and the world.

We are amazed now that one of our PeaceWeaver Elders is Gandhi's grandson, Arun Gandhi. Our Grandfather Elder Bhante Dharmawara was good friends with Gandhi. And now over fifty years later we are working together with Arun for Peace. Arun carries on Gandhi's work all around the world. He is an authentic heir to his Grandfather's spirit and teachings. We are blessed with his dedication, presence, and vision! Humble Thanks...

There is a song that we sing that goes "We are family on a journey, shining in the sun, remembering the Ancient Ones, the Elders, and their wisdom." May we honor those that have come before us, by adding our Light to theirs, day by day in every way until the darkness of violence and fear are no more.

In Devotion,
Greg Lynn
May All Elders Be Well and Happy!

Journey Fast Day 19

World Peace for All Beings

Today is the 19th day of my Journey Fast. Each day I pass through patches of weakness, but by hydrating with water the weakness passes fairly quickly and greater clarity and energy arises.

At this moment of the fast I am more open and empathetic to all sentient beings. Feeling their preciousness and true worth, I feel more completely their pain and suffering. Today I am focused on the billions of animals that are killed each year by the world wide meat industry. Reports are as high as 53 billion animals slaughtered. That would be equivalent to destroying the 7 billion human beings more than 7 times over! The United States is far and away the leader with over 32 billion animals killed every year. These include cows and calves, chickens and chicks, pigs, sheep and lambs, turkeys, ducks and geese. These numbers do not include fish - billions more. Also not included are wild game, cats, dogs, goats, and horses worldwide.

It is bad enough that these defenseless beings are killed but they are kept in horrific conditions, abused and violated. Chickens are packed into cages, ten to twenty thousand in a building and beaks clipped. Live male chicks are tossed in dumpsters, because they have no worth to the business. Pigs crammed into pens. Cows crammed into feed lots. Calves chained or kept inside so their meat becomes soft and white for veal. There are so many more inhumane practices.

All are pumped up with antibiotics and hormones. When animals fall down sick in the yard they are abandoned, and the bigger ones moved with forklifts while still alive. And there are so very many other horrors that are perpetrated on these innocent beings.

These sentient, feeling beings are passive and kind. They harm no one. They do not kill one another nor other species. They truly are "innocents". And yet they do not have voices to speak up for themselves. Only their cries that come just before their slaughter are heard. How can we allow and contribute to the deaths of so many harmless ones? How can we take in this meat and not see how it negatively affects not only our bodies, but our very souls? How can we keep turning away, ignoring these horrific practices? People will do anything to protect their pets, their friends, and yet go off and eat the dead carcasses of these friendly beings. Why?

Gandhi stated "You can tell the spirit of a nation by how they treat their animals". And perhaps we can extend that to the whole world. The spirit of violence is so deeply ingrained through the cultures. Perhaps, however, if we stop killing animals we might just stop killing each other.

The plight of these noble beings pierces my Heart and Soul and I send prayers of peace to all of them, with the intention of ceasing this senselessness.

When we speak of World Peace we must consider all feeling beings. They, too, deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, so that their pain and suffering ends.

In Devotion,
Greg Lynn
May Animals Be Well and Happy!!
Some folks have expressed concern whether I've been all right or not due to not hearing from me. I am not only ok, my Body/Mind/Spirit feels more inspired and stronger than ever! Thank you for your concern.

My apologies for not being timely on these last few blog entries. Over the weekend our work accelerated due to our Cleanse Retreat and tending to the farm. The journey entries continue with Day 19.

Journey Fast Day 14

The Children are Leading the Way

Saturday was the 13th day of my journey, and I was led to places of vision and beauty. It was a very big day in which Stefanie and I, along with Al and Willow, went from Skye & Aidan's Little League game in the morning to Clara & Kylee's dance recital in the afternoon, to Gabe Shapiro's Coming of Age Ceremony in the evening. On the road for over ten hours. But what a blessed ride it was! Each event opened the flood gates of all that's good and well in our world now, and gave me a clearer vision of not just hope for the future, but assurance that the "best is yet to come"!

The Little League experience started the night before when Skye and Aidan's team lost a game. Everyone struggled and was off their game, and Skye for the first time ever struck out three times. He was crushed and felt that he was the reason they lost. He is one of the youngest on the team and plays part time in the field, but his Heart and Spirit is totally for his team. So he took on the responsibility for losing, and broke down sobbing. Fortunately he worked with us to come to understand about winning's not everything; sometimes we have off nights; and that he can let go of any and all disappointment and judgment about himself. Just shake it off.

The next day he and Aidan and the team came alive again and won, in fact they won the League Championship. Skye was fully present, without any carry over from the night before. And he worked the pitcher for a walk as the runner on 3rd stole home to win the game. Jubilation for everyone.

Now, it was not the winning that was inspirational, it was Skye rising up as a Phoenix and giving his best, Aidan also. If they can do that at ten, we can do that at our age. And if they're practicing letting go now, they will get better and better day by day!

Clara and Kylee's dance recital was a long procession of many dances from the small ones to the adults. And without much prejudice, they were two of the brightest lights on the stage. Relaxed, smiling, moving, expressing their natural gifts and spirits! If they can do that at the ages of twelve and eight in front of hundreds of people, we can always shine in front of our family and friends. And if they're practicing that grace and natural beauty now, they will get better and better day by day.

Then Stefanie and I had the great honor of attending Gabe Shapiro's Coming of Age Ceremony. The PeaceWeavers have known Gabe since he was ten years old, and now at the age of fifteen he very consciously chose a series of events to mark this pivotal moment in his life.

On Gabe's first visit to Thunder Mountain, he came into sweat lodge for all four rounds. And he's been coming back to do lodge on a regular basis ever since. Then, as one of his ceremonies, he chose for his transition time, he did Vision Quest here in May. He was "out on the hill' for 24 hours. He did his very best and he did great!

Gabe is an amazing young man, with equally amazing sister and parents. Elan and Rachael are two of the world's brightest lights and they've been shining the way for both of their children.

The evening was truly profound. A mix of Bar Mitzvah and Earth Base Ceremony. Gabe was leading the way. And actually many honored him as a leader among his friends and community. Family and friends shined with their gratitudes and the room was a vessel of Love and Beauty.

Gabe has not always had an easy journey, but he and his family have walked through any and all obstacles. He's a brilliant spirit, with a kind and generous heart. And he is a true, dedicated Weaver of Peace.

If Gabe, at fifteen, can step beyond anything that has held him back, then we too can step beyond the things that have held us back. And if Gabe is practicing that now, he will get better and better, day by day.

I would like to share with you Gabe's Values and Beliefs to Live By. I'm sure you'll be touched by them as much as I have been.

Gabe's Values and Beliefs to Live By

Be honest, no matter how difficult it may be, and no matter how much discomfort or consequences it may bring to you.

Be fair to all people and living things.

Respect all living things in order to be more respected, avoid creating enemies, help others feel valued, and set an example for others.

Be thoughtful of what you say. Your words can be a force for good or for creating harm.

Be confident in yourself, and show your confidence in others.

Be loyal to the people you love.

Know your goals and make them come true. Be aware of what's motivating you.

Be strong in your loving; don't let fear guide you.

Be awake to life in the present moment. Appreciate the process as much as the goal. Enjoy the little things. Be aware of what you're thinking and feeling.
Live your life in harmony with all of these values and beliefs.

I encourage all of us to consider and write down our values and beliefs, like Gabe has done. It'll bring focus and greater purpose to our lives.

I encourage all of us to let go of disappointments, judgments, and anger like Skye has done, it'll give us new life and new energy.

And I encourage all of us to follow Clara and Kylee and naturally let our gifts shine out to the world and turn pain into joy.

So let us be encouraged about the future, and also let us be in the present, and be led by the pure innocence and preciousness of our children.

Greg Lynn

Journey Fast Day 13

The Path of the Fast

Like any journey, this journey fast is taking me down a road. I'm passing through different "places" and "terrains". One goes through different stages during a fast. Initially the terrain can be "rocky", while discharging any toxins. As Bhante would say "We are what we thing, we are what we eat and drink", so we meet any unwell thoughts or foods we've previously taken in and release them almost immediately. By drinking more water we flush them from our Body/Mind. Once discharged we fell better! But perhaps we come across deeper layers or levels of toxins and we're asked to go through the same healing process - flush and free ourselves of what's not well. Moving further on the journey we find we have new energy and new clarity which brings greater inspiration to travel on.

There are times we need to pull off to the side of the road and rest There are times we'll feel "flat" or down and don't want to move. But the more we give ourselves this Body/mind rest and cleanse the more "beautiful views we see" and the greater our Spiritual Vision and ardor and the destination is peace and wellness!

The Body moves into self-healing, the Mind into self realization. Of course, we must keep in mind that a fasting program on a regular basis allows one to know the terrain better. We should not jump into a long term fast or we could do harm to ourselves.

We can start by fasting one day a week for 24 or 36 hours, then onto 3 to 4 day fasts, and then onto 7 to 10. We here at Thunder Mountain offer Fasting Cleanses of 2 days and and 5 days along with many wellness practices you can take home with you and use. At these cleanses we have a "Juice Feast". We serve delicious filling veggie and fruit juices. The body's digestive system needs rest and care and support - cause it supports us.

I encourage folks to take even a "day trip" of just liquids. From dinner to dinner - 24 hours, or from dinner through the next day, into the morning of the next - 36 hours. Let's love ourselves, instead of stuff ourselves.

You'll feel better and look better. When we become stronger we can be stronger in our response to all beings on our Heavenly Body, Mother Earth!

May all Beings Be Well and Happy!

Journey Fast Day 12

Beyond Impossibilities

This fast has taken me to the prison camps of the Civil War, to Andersonville and Elmira where thousands starved and died of unnecessary illnesses.

This fast has taken me to the Trail of Tears of the Cherokee and the Navajo. In 1864 the Navajo, already starved and dying, surrendered to the US forces when told they would be given food and water. Thousands arrived only to be marched 350 miles over 23 days without food and water -men, women, and children. When anyone fell they were shot to death.

This fast has taken me to Auschwitz and the other death camps of World War II and beyond. Feeling just a little of the impossible horrors forced upon millions. Seeing their loved ones die and be killed right before their eyes, there are no words that could ever capture the numbness and desolation.

This fast has taken me to the other genocides of every continent. Millions and millions senselessly executed, leaving what for the executioners?

These age old senseless acts are still too present. They still seem too impossible to resolve. And yet, again, what can we do as individuals to stop this blind violence once and for all.

Some, right now, are making heroic steps. Some pour themselves daily, headlong, into the impossible regarding these situations, against overwhelming odds. They are, however, bringing light and change no matter what.

And perhaps that is exactly what we're meant to do in our own lives To increase our heroic efforts and pour ourselves, daily and headlong, into and beyond our own impossibilities. Against overwhelming forces and issues - health, relationships, work and finances. By clarifying our intentions and resolve, we can bring greater changes in our lives, our communities and the world.

No matter what has occurred, or what is happening now, we can turn it on a dime and bring in a new paradigm of active compassion, peace, and wellness. As the saying goes "Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me!".

In Deep Devotion,
Greg Lynn

Journey Fast Day 11

Being Empty

When we fast we empty. We're offered the process of moving through our habitual thoughts and toxic feelings more rapidly and completely. When we see and feel the heavy thoughts and feelings we can have greater resolution and execution of dropping them. We are stronger in Body/Mind and with that strength and intent we let go of our attachments to anything that is not well for us, our loved ones, and the world. By letting go of the "attached" baggage, we become empty. We have emptied our cup, our vessel, and are ready to be filled with insights and inspirations!

When we're empty we're more open, more aware, more sensitive. We open to the good, the bad, and the ugly. Our awareness heightens our sensitivity to the pain and suffering in the world. With tears falling from our Heart, we empathetically feel the hopelessness, fear, and horror that so many, too many, live day to day. Yet with resolve we pray for total cessation of the pain and suffering for all beings, no matter how impossible it may appear.

We then commit to taking better care of ourselves so that, in turn, we will take better care of all others. "Day by day, in every way, we are better and better", this innately becomes one's mantra. This is our Noble, Divine Spirit, singing out to all beings in all realms!

Journey Fast Day 10

World Peace In Our Lifetime

I left off yesterday with that very intent..:"World Peace In our Lifetime". Our intentions create our reality. The Buddha presented the "Eightfold Noble Path": Right ideas, right resolution, right speech, right behavior, right vocation, right effort, right mindfulness, and right attention. Right Ideas and Resolution are really Right Intent. They are the seeds of which we grow our lives. When we have clear ideas and a strong resolution they send off the life giving energy into our speech, behavior, work, effort and presence of mind.

May we join together in spirit and action, and focus on the intent of World Peace in our Lifetime!

Black Elk, the Lakota medicine man, visioned that the Hoop of Life is torn, and this is the time to mend it, to weave it back to wholeness. May we each be Weavers of Peace and Healing in every step of our individual journeys. More and More of us are focusing our Heart Minds on creating new paradigms that will bring not only Healing in our lifetime, but World Peace...

Regarding the fast...
I find myself even and strong again today. The prayers from so many feed me. Also my daily practices include walking, jumping in the lake, sunning myself, green light meditation, pranayama, skin brushing, Tibetan Rites, water enemas, and muscle exercises. I feel younger and stronger, lighter and brighter, and I am grateful to all angels, devas, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas!
Please consider joining in somehow and open to new paradigms for your own Peace and Wellness.

And if you'd like, please email us with names of folks you'd like us to send prayers out to. pw@peaceweavers.com

Journey Fast Day 9

Revolution of the Heart

For us to bring a great Peace to the World, it feels to me now, that each of us must pick up the cause. Each of us must be leaders in this most worthy of causes. We cannot rely on the old institutions of politicians and politics at the helm. We must encourage a grassroots movement to rise up. A Revolution of the Heart to lead to a true compassionate world.

The focus needs to be on the innocent and the children. Let us turn our loyalties from greed and power to real consideration of all beings.

Let us not turn away from what is calling out to us all. Let us not ignore our human responsibilities. If we just accept the way things are - violence, wars, inequalities, then they will be the legacy our generation passes on to our children and their children to come.

Please...let your best come alive now. Please...start talking with your family and friends of how you can lead the way. Please remember our intentions create our world. Let us join together and intend to create a better world of Peace and Justice and Respect for all.

My "journey fast" continues along. Sometimes strong, sometimes weak. Sometimes up, sometimes down.

But the food that feeds me are my intentions for Wellness and Peace within and Wellness and Peace for the World.

May we keep "All of Our Relations" in mind every day...

and let us have as a collective intention "World Peace in our Lifetime"!

Greg Lynn

Journey Fast Day 8

Inner Peace, World Peace

The last few days have been full and big for me and the crew here at Thunder Mountain. On this journey there are challenges after challenges. Tiredness at times, doubts and fears. But the intention of Inner Peace and Wellness and World Peace keep me focused and determined. I am doing well.

The world continues to be full of pain and suffering. Conflicts from Libya to Syria to Yemen and Iraq and Afghanistan. Violence in schools, families, and communities. Oppression of races, women and children. Inequality of wealth and power. Pollution of the Earth's riches - the land, the air, the water and seas. Destruction of the rainforests. Billions of animals yearly used, abused, enslaved and slaughtered. And so very much more.

How can we pierce the veils of impossibility? How can we bring the great change that is so needed? How can we change the culture of indulgence and violence? The problems of the world are overwhelming, what real actions can be put into effect that will make a difference?

Obviously there are no easy, simple solutions. It's hard enough to get people to agree upon local issues, let alone global ones.
Thankfully there are good people doing good work on every level already. There are improvements and changes already occurring, but there is so much more to accomplish. Where do we go from here?

Bhante share with us that "our health is our greatest possession, with it we can serve ourselves and we can serve others". When we practice Body/Mind Peace and Wellness we are more clear and strong. From that clarity and strength we can be more responsive to the needs of our family, communities, nation and "All our Relations". To be empowered by our own Wellness and Peace we send off the strongest of vibrations that encourage others to follow along. Our enlightenment enlightens the world. When we are awake new solutions arise, even for age old problems. Now is the time for us to gather together in Peace and Wellness Circles and support each other to awaken our Fundamental Wholeness and empower one another to bring the changes so needed in the World.
We are putting together a program that folks can attend to learn how to facilitate these circles. Please consider hosting them in your home with your friends and communities.

And make a deeper commitment now to getting more well physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, if not now, when?

Greg Lynn

Journey Fast - Day 5

This Eternal Moment

The deeper one goes into a fast the more thoughts and feelings we come across, and the more we can let go of the attachment to those thoughts and feelings. Sometimes I see it like a meteor field that I'm passing through. The less I hold on to worry and fear and the more I relax and go with the flow, the sooner I've passed through the apparent difficulties.

Passing through the myriad of doubts, judgments, fears and anxieties, what remains is just this day, just this moment. On this journey fast I pass through all the road blocks. This gives me energy and clarity to be more fully present, which is really a gift. To be energized and clear in this Eternal Moment is relieving and awe inspiring. This Eternal Moment is so spacious that it includes Everything Right Now! It includes everything on our Heavenly Planet; it includes all the Planets and Sun in our Solar System; it includes our whole Milky Way Galaxy, even all the Galaxies! That makes for a pretty big moment! So by letting go of our habit fears that are so small and suffocating, we let go to the Infinite where we can relax, release and feel the relief of one deep breath after another.

Thank you to those that have continued to call or email me to say they too are joining in w/2, 3,or 4 day fasts and other journeys of awakening. My Prayers go right back out to everyone. This is the time of Activation and together we are becoming Lighter and Brighter! May we all activate our deepest dreams and highest visions now for the sake of our Planet and all Beings!

Journey Fast - Day 4

The Sweetness of Fasting

Another strong day. Doing my wellness practices daily: Green Light Meditation, Pranayama, Skin Brushing, VAKS, walking, exercising, etc. Also jumped in the lake after morning practice - the air was cold, the wind was strong and I jumped in expecting cold water, but it was warmer than the air! So much for expectant mind!

Fasting is one of the best practices to break through expectant mind. It is a journey into the unknown wilderness. Feeling all the realms more acutely...Spirit is clearer and stronger and prayers go out to all beings. True wellness opens up True Nature.

Here is a poem by Rumi written over 750 years ago about fasting...

Fasting

There is a hidden sweetness in the stomach's emptiness
We are lutes, no more, no less. If the soundbox
is stuffed full of anything, no music comes.
But if brain and belly are burning clean
with fasting, every moment a new song
comes out of the fire.

The fog clears and new energy
makes you run up the steps in front of you.
Be emptier, and cry like reed instruments cry.
Emptier, write secrets with the reed pen.

When you are full of food and drink, an ugly metal
statue sits where your spirit should. When you fast,
good habits gather like friends who want to help.
Fasting is Solomon's ring. Don't give it
to some illusion and lose your power, but even if you have,
if you have lost all will and control,
they come back when you fast, like soldiers appearing
out of ground, pennants flying above them.

A table descends to your tents, Jesus' table.
Expect to see it when you fast, this table spread
with other food, better than the broth of cabbages.

Journey Fast - Day 3

Loving the Body Temple

For decades I have come to know my Body Temple very well. I respect it, honor it, love it, rebuild it daily with good thoughts, good food, and good liquids. And yet the "journey fast" is an adventure into trusting the Universe even more; in knowing myself even more; in getting in touch with the threads that weave us together as one fabric even more...

I have set off into the unknown to let go of  indulgences and to awaken the consciousness of  Pure Being. To let go of having, of holding onto...just letting go...thought after thought, moment after moment, breath after breath...just being...

Today has gone mostly smoothly. My energy has been even, stamina strong, and thoughts very clear. While fasting all senses are heightened. Colors, textures, sounds, feelings all more profound. This leads to clarity and insights. And the insights lead to liberation and freedom. So by giving up solid food we can end up with a solid Spirit...

Journey Fast

21 Day Journey Fast for World Peace

I have had a "calling", for quite some time now, to do an extended fast for Peace for my own Body/Mind/Spirit and for Worldwide Peace for all Beings. Yesterday, Monday, May 30th, I set off on this journey!

I am increasing my Body/Mind focus to achieve Optimum Health for myself and contribute to Peace for the World. We are in a time of great change for the Earth and all her beings. To contribute consciously to this change I am deepening my personal/global commitment. Now is the time for all aware beings to "step it up" and be the change, more completely, that we wish to see in the world. The change I wish to see is our world to return to wellness and balance. If we are not well and in balance, we cannot be at peace. So I am setting off into a "fasting journey" of 21 days, to deepen my own wellness/peace and to add to the collective achievement of that consciousness globally.

Those that know me know I'm not carelessly setting off here. I've done many 7 day water fasts, with the longest being one of 14 days. So 21 days will be a stretch. I am fasting on distilled water, and my own urine. This is an age-old method that promotes self healing. (More to come about the urine later.) AlsoI will stay real with the fast, if need be I will shift gears by first adding lemon juice, then wheat grass juice if needed, and then veggie juices.

I am sincerely opening to this journey for the highest good of all and will let wisdom, not ego, guide me. Fasting has been one of my most dear practices through the years, so I am very familiar with the terrain.

I became a vegetarian in 1969, 42 years ago. And have been vegan for many years. During those four decades I have consistently fasted several times each year. Originally I fasted with the seasons, and now, over the last few years, doing Fasting Cleanses here at Thunder Mountain almost monthly. Also most weeks here on the Mountain we do a one day liquid fast from Sunday night dinner into Monday night dinner.

The fasting has helped me stay in balance with my diet, my weight, my emotions, and helped me to step through and beyond Lyme disease. I've fasted on distilled water and juices and have done many herbal cleanses. Bhante would say we must cleanse internally as we do externally, so the fasting has aided me to let go of "toxic stuff" and become healthier, happier, younger and stronger.

Over the last couple of years I've had an extended fast "calling" to me. Then one day I got clear it would be 21 days. Then later I realized that our PeaceWeaver community has been together 21 years now - coincidence or not, the fast is here to honor all the efforts made by all Weavers of Peace during that time, but  especially the core group that has walked it step by step for 21 years.

When it first became clear I thought it was just for me and our community, but then I realized of course it's meant for "all our relations", the Circle of Life. So I am answering the call of my own path, my own soul. In so doing I call out to anyone who hears this to listen more deeply and completely to your own calling, and perhaps deepen it right now, even over the next three weeks.

Already people are committing to small fasts during this time, or eating just veggies and fruit, or returning to spiritual practices daily and nightly. If this touches your Heart, may you activate your own first, and together may we send out prayers of Wellness, Balance, Love and Peace to all beings in all realms...

I will be posting daily during the fast.

Greg Lynn

March, 2011
The Earth Keeps Turning...
Daily the Earth keeps turning, and the events of Humankind intensifying. With the profound and real climate change occurring, the winds of tornadoes and hurricanes increasing, and, of course, earthquakes and tsunamis escalating, the Earth is truly in upheaval.  Hence the human family is in upheaval as well. This is the time of the "great turning" from the old world to a new world, a new consciousness. As we can see, it is cause for great concern and reconsideration of how we live.

The recent events in Japan are devastating for us all. It is hard to believe our own eyes, seeing the power of the quake and the tsunami. And now the threat that exists regarding the nuclear power plants leaves the world holding its collective breath. All of this raises feelings of sadness and powerlessness. Beyond donations, what can we do in our lives and communities to help and make a difference?

As Weavers of Peace, let us focus on our own wellness and balance so that we can be a stable force for others. Let's stay strong in clarity of mind and spirit and send out prayers of healing to all beings in all realms. Let's bring people together in Circle to share feelings and get more in touch with what is happening and needed in our own communities. Let's be more in touch with the strengths and weak points of our local region, and then lead the charge in creating more connection and greater safety for all.

Let us pray every day for every being, and create a more aware world that does not have to befall more disasters to awaken to enlightened, responsible living.

Please be well ~
In Devotion,
Greg Lynn

Season's Greetings
This is the time of year to gift those you love with presents. So give them your Presence! Being Present with another is truly a Gift of Love.

When we're "Unconditionally Present" the gifts of insight, gratitude, and acknowledgment come pouring forth. When we are present we welcome those we're with to be present too. Then that "collective presence" heightens our awareness of the texture of Love and the Weaving of Life.

We don't have to travel to a mall to buy this present. But we do have to leave the past and Be Here Now! And we do need to turn around and come back from the fears of the future.

The Universe welcomes you to share this Present with everyone - those you know and love, and those you have yet to meet. So give the Gifts of your Full Attention and Whole Heartedness this season and into 2011. Let everyday be the Season of Light and Love and every moment gift yourself and others with your own Heartfelt Presence...

Go ahead, open your Presence right now!
Ho Ho Ho...
In love and devotion,
Greg Lynn

Our Choice is Our Awakening

When we think of World Peace the first thought is a world void of war, and that is true. However true Global Peace is also a world where there is food and shelter and care for all! This has been the response to Haiti, that recently experienced the devastating earthquake. Help is coming in from people and nations all over the world. And yet again and again we are faced with resolving the impossible with earthquakes, tsunamis, wars, and famine continuing on.  With all of this turmoil no wonder so many people are convinced they must die first in order to go to heaven.

How can we live peacefully on a planet that has seen so much tragedy and violence? How can we find the ability to put down our weapons, help one another, and live in Harmony? In Zen Buddhism, one of the practices is working with something called Koans - unanswerable verses that are presented to be answered. There appears to be no logical answers to these questions. One initial Koan that you might have heard of is "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" Not only does the student need to understand the Koan, but is asked to demonstrate it before the teacher. Other Koans are "How do you get out of a 100 foot hole?" or "How do you get down from a 100" pole?" To resolve these impossible questions the student is asked to drop habit mind. In dropping habit mind, we drop the delusions of fear, separation, greed and ignorance. When the delusions fall away, there then remains clear understanding that allows clear demonstration of our True Divine Nature.

Regarding awakening to Peace we face many Koans - How do we end war? How do we resolve poverty? How do we banish famines? It appears to be an impossible, unending series of unanswerable questions and it is too easy to give up, especially when feeling pain and suffering! And yet we do not live on this Heavenly Body Mother Earth to be punished and then die. We are not birthed into this human realm as a prison to serve out our sentence and then pass away. We are here to Awaken beyond the delusions of pain, suffering and separateness, then we can live in Peace.

To resolve these age old practices of war and violence, we must first admit that we let ourselves be controlled and enslaved by them. Next we must convince ourselves that we do not have to submissively give our power away to habitual fears and reactions. Then we must choose to no longer participate in any actions that do harm to anyone or anything. Our choice is our Awakening.

We are here to Awaken beyond the delusions of separateness, pain, and suffering. When we choose to drop our fearful "habit mind" then we awaken to our Divine Nature, and then we can demonstrate our Noble Spirits. Together with this divine understanding and our noble actions we can rise up like the Lotus Flower and express the beauty of Kindness and Compassion for all Life.

So let this be the year that our collective choice breaks the chains of age old habits, and brings greater Peace and Healing for our global family.

If not in 2010, then when!

Greg Lynn

On the Occasion of our 20th Annual
 New Year's Peace Gathering

Each January for the last 20 years, we have come together as an extended Peace & Healing Community to cherish all life. Together we raise our energy so that we can raise our consciousness, and set our collective vision on greater peace in our lives & the life of our Planet.  Life is very dear & precious. Gathering in the name of Peace allows us to express our gratitude and awaken our very souls.
Over the last year we yet again found a world with wars waging, economies teetering, and glaciers melting. On the surface it still doesn’t appear too encouraging. Yet when we spiritually quiet, go deeper and open our Heart Minds we find the great unending fundamental harmony that birthed all life! Living from that consciousness we realize not only are there better times ahead but that the Divine, Heavenly Consciousness exists now….Right Here and Right Now!
Each day we can choose to do our Best. Each moment we have an opportunity to Live from Love. We can choose to be Divine Love, it is our Birthright. Our discursive mind tries to talk us out of being loving and being Peaceful. No matter how difficult, complicated, and impossible life can appear I choose the Reality of Peace Now. You may say I’m a Dreamer, but I’m not the only one. We are here tonight because we are all Dreamers, Dreamers of Peace in our Lifetimes. Dreamers & Weavers of a Peaceful Planet, filled with Love and Respect for All Living Beings.
For twenty years we have gathered here in Princeton and many other times & places to vision a better world. For twenty years and more we as individuals and families have risen up beyond the inertia that tries to hold us back from achieving our birth right – to live in peaceful harmony with all beings.
Tonight and this year let us rise up again, like the dawn of a new day, and shine the Light of Freedom.
Let us rise up again, more determined than ever, to live as Noble Beings.
Let us rise up and pass on the true essence of spiritual kindness to the Children of the Planet!!!!

Blessings to All – In Deepest Devotion, Greg Lynn Weaver

Imagine Peace on Earth... In Our Lifetime
In 2010 the PeaceWeavers are entering our 20th year together as a Peace and Healing Community.  Someone the other day wondered out loud how much good we've done considering that the war in Iraq continues and the war in Afghanistan is escalating.Of course our influence through the years seems to be minimal, being that we're a small non-profit serving in quiet, unassuming ways. The wars wage on, people are still dying, and it all feels so big and so impossible to change.

Even President Obama, after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, justified using violence to bring an end to violence, and then spoke that there will continue to be violent conflicts throughout the world for the duration of our lifetimes.

Deep habitual violence has been around for thousands of years.  Just read the Bible - nation against nation, brother against brother, generation after generation.  It is institutionalized violence and the justification for it is the mantra of "the powers that be".  People continue to invoke the name of God to kill.  It is time now for us to invoke the name of God for Peace.

It is time now, in December, 2009, to put the self-defeating mantras of hopelessness and fear down and to stop striking out unceasingly.  The Pentagon is still spending more each year on the military and wars than has gone for the economic recovery in the last year.  Enough already.

As individuals and citizens of the world we can no longer sit back and give our power to "the powers that be". There is now way to peace; peace is the way, and each of us needs to lead in that way.

Our Lakota Grandfather Harry Blue Thunder spoke that if we can have world wars we can have world peace. To make that happen each of us must make a stand.  We must send away habitual anger from our lives.  We must send away habitual fears from our lives.  We must send away resentment, vindictiveness, hatred, overwhelm, and anything that creates our inner wars that spill out to our families, communities and the world.

Gandhi said, "We must be the change we wish to see in the world."  So let us "Be Peace Now".  John Lennon wrote "Imagine".  So let us "Imagine Peace for Everyone".  He wrote, "You may think I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."  Well, it's Time for all the Dreamers to rise up in the Name of Love.

I, too, am a dreamer, of Peace in our lifetime, and I'm not the only one. I hope today you'll join me and we will bring Peace for everyone. Why not? It will take everything that we have, our devotion, our commitment, our patience, our understanding, our finances and all of our efforts, too. But when we go to war it takes all of those things plus us it robs us of our divine nobility and the lives of those that we love. So together let us Dream, Vision, and Create World Peace on Earth in our lifetime, for the sake of our children, and all living beings.

 Awakening to Great Love
In our culture to a large degree we have been taught to be individualistic; to look after our own interests, our own fame & fortune. It is, of course, important to take care of our own selves and of our own family - to be well and to be happy. But directing the energy too much to our own interest can create self-centeredness. Then it's very easy to be out of balance and become fearful. When we're caught in fear we become constricted. When constricted, more and more fear energy spirals inwardly and downwardly and we become a drain. A drain of our own emotions and energy and if we attach to the spiral, a drain of other people's emotions and energy. The real Love that we can have for ourselves and the world becomes smaller and smaller. When our Love becomes smaller our Health and Happiness diminish and then too often disappears.

In the human realm we are given the opportunity to awaken! Awaken to True Love...Great Love! We start off in this realm as a tiny, tiny, tiny egg, and gradually grow bigger and bigger physically. And our consciousness grows bigger regarding the world within us and around us. But our compassion, trust, and Love, though natural, are all choices for us. We can choose to be kind. We can choose to be considerate. We can choose to trust even in the face of strange human phenomena.

It is our destiny and our fulfillment to choose to Awaken to Love! Can you imagine the seven billion two leggeds on the Planet living each day in Love! Why not! That would be Great! Many people live in a constricted place of fear and distrust. If that can happen, then the flip side is just waiting for us all.

And now is the time on this Heavenly Body - Mother Earth - to wake up. It is the Dawn of a new Conscious Way of Life. In fact we are the Dawn. We can choose to increase the Light! We can choose to be more considerate, more caring, more compassionate, more loving. We can choose to live in Love, from Love, and literally be Love in every moment! We naturally breathe in every moment, and we can naturally be Love in every moment. Big Breath, Big Life, Big Love! Why wait? Why don't we start right now!

Oh, and by the way - I love you!

Greg Lynn

Healing Vacations...
Cleanse, Stay Fit & Have Fun!

Time magazine reported recently that "40% of people searching on line for spa services are hunting for something to clean out the pipes". That's almost 50% more than in 2007 according to Spa Finder. Even with the economy slowing down people are spending more money on their own fitness - with healthy foods, exercise regimes, and by taking "Healing Vacations"!

In our topsy turvy world, cleansing and strengthening of the Body/Mind gives us the most solid support for our own health and happiness. Let us keep in mind what our PeaceWeaver Elder, Bhante Dharmawara, taught : "Our greatest possession is our health, without it we cannot serve ourselves or serve others!" So eating good food, exercising, and developing strong habits of Self-Health, protects and increases our "greatest possession"! Taking the time for a Healing Vacation to cleanse and strengthen the Body/Mind within a loving environment is our very best insurance policy regarding our health.

Bhante swore that cleansing his colon through colonic therapy was one of the healing preventative practices that led to his long quality life. He said "we must cleanse internally as we do externally". Cleansing internally discharges that which no longer serves us. When we cleanse we let go of the old and we welcome in the new.

We here at Thunder Mountain have developed a lifestyle of lightening up. We fast on a regular basis, do colonics to let go of our heavy attachments to food, emotions, etc., AND we give ourselves a break before we have a break down. While fasting we drink health giving liquids, freeing the digestive system of the heaviness of not only food but of bad food. We take in essential nutrients with juice and wheatgrass. Our body can more easily absorb these life giving energies and we become lighter and more energized.

Please consider giving  yourself a "Healing Vacation" here at Thunder Mountain. We need to gather together periodically and let go of the heaviness of life and stay light. This helps our daily practice to strengthen and it helps our health, our family's health,  and the health of the whole world!

So lighten up for crying out loud, after all it's the Age of Aquarius!

Live the Vision
Presented at 19th Annual New Year's Peace Gathering, Princeton, NJ

Through the years we have gathered here again and again as an extended Community of Peace . We represent all traditions. We are Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews and even Republicans. It is time in our World to honor our Commonality, the "Weaving", this beautiful "Web of Life", rather than tearing it apart. It is time for us to awaken ever more deeply to our true purpose of bringing real peace to our lives and the Life of the Planet!

With a new administration, and a new consciousness entering the White House and our government, it is a time of great hope. We all hope that Obama can bring the changes needed to end the wars, turn the economy, heal our worldwide relations, and even resolve Global Warming. But hope can be deceptive. We can give our power away to hope and hence shirk our responsibility to be leaders in our own lives and communities. "We hope" our elected leaders can bring positive change, for our country and our people, but it is "We the People" that are the true leaders. And it is up to each of us to be the positive change we wish to see in the world.

And change is occurring rapidly on all levels. The Earth is changing form every moment of everyday. The structure of the world's economy is coming apart at the seams, and the way we do business is changing before our very eyes. And now we find a change in government and how we do business representing the best interests of the entire world.

Those of us that live consciously are the "Spiritual Midwives" birthing a new world of how humans are destined to live on this Heavenly Body - Mother Earth. It is a brave new paradigm of true honor, respect and compassion for all life. By giving our best with each new day, we are creating the best world that we can pass onto the future of all the species of the planet.

Let us not be fooled by the phenomena of war, of hunger, of homelessness and all which appears to be overwhelming and impossible to resolve and transform. It is our destiny to resolve age old problems with brilliant new consciousness. In the 60's the Beatles wrote "All we need is Love", and now we realize that "All we are is Love!" And Being True Love we can bring true healing, true resolution, and true liberation for all.

Let us remember always our Connections and our Weaving. Let us vision peace and wellness for ourselves, our families, our world, our future. We can trust the Fundamental Harmony that birthed us. We can trust who we are and what we are meant to bring to the planet, for we are the Builders of the new Dawn.

Let us live in each moment of each day. And let us with great care and compassion build the foundation of a better world. Daily let us affirm;

Infinite Spirit, it is all right here, right now. . . total, complete and perfect Spiritual Awakening, Enlightenment, and Liberation!
Infinite Spirit, it is all right here, right now. . . total, complete, and perfect Health Physically, Mentally, and Emotionally!
Infinite Spirit, it is all right here, right now. . . total, complete, and perfect Wealth with Friends, Family and Finances!
Infinite Spirit, it is all right here, right now. . . total, complete, and perfect Service,  Success for me, my family, my community, and All my Relations!
Under Grace, in Divine Ways, for the next 10,000 generations, & beyond.

So again thank you for being "Present for Peace" here tonight. Thank you for the gifts you bring the world, and thank you for the important work you do to heal your lives and the Life of the Planet.

Together we are a Beautiful Weaving and
Together we are meant to bring comfort and solace to the World now & into the future.

Let us Live our Vision-
                Let us Live from Love-
                   And Let nothing stop us.

In Deepest Devotion,
Greg Lynn Weaver

Be the Change
As of Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 Senator Barack Obama is now President-elect Barack Obama of the  United States! This ushers in a whole new energy into the White House, Washington D.C., the nation and the world. Our prayer is that with this historic election great healing occurs between all strata of the world's cultures and nations. Why not?!?

Each of us can be leaders in healing the wounds and divisions that still exist in our country and on the planet. As Mahatma Gandhi put it, "We must be the change we wish to see in the world". So let  us "be the change" by healing our own inner wounds and divisions, and open up to greater health and harmony!

Our dear PeaceWeaver Elder Bhante Dharmawara, close friends with Gandhi, would remind us over and over again that "Our health is our most important possession! If we are not well we cannot serve ourselves and hence we cannot serve others." Bhante knew this first hand - at the age of 38 he had used up his vital force energy and the doctors gave him six months to live. Up to that time he had not served himself very well.  Bhante then made a decision to change his lifestyle and focus his energy on quieting, cleansing, healing, and clarifying his intentions regarding his health and living in harmony with the Universe. And not only did he live another 72 years, to the age of 110, but the quality of his life was profound. At the age of 107 he was still flying around the planet bringing healing to others.

Bhante became the change he wished to see in the world. Heading towards death he resolved his own illnesses, wounds and divisions - thereby serving himself and living for decades more to serve others.

Let us join together "to be the change we wish to see in the world". We are here at Thunder Mountain to support you to serve yourself more deeply, so that you can serve others more completely. And let us join together with people from all over the world to usher in a new energy of honor, healing and harmony for ourselves and future generations.

So come to Thunder Mountain and let us serve you... Please let us help you open to the healing energy of the Universe and heal thyself!

Fear Not...

This is quite a tenuous moment for us as a nation and as a global community. The economy is teetering back and forth, foreclosures are at an all-time high, unemployment is rising and we're still at war in Iraq and Afghanistan. As the economy goes down, fear is on the rise.

Edmund Burke once wrote: "No passion so efficiently robs the mind of all its powers of acting and reasoning as fear." Fear not only robs the mind, but also robs the physical body of vitamins and minerals. Fear consciousness creates anxiety, anxiety creates stress, and stress creates illness and unhappiness. When we submit to fear and it's offspring we lose our wellness, our happiness, and our fulfillment. Martin Luther King, Jr. shared in Strength of Love, "Our problem is not to be rid of fear but rather to harness and master it." That is exactly why we are here at Thunder Mountain Retreat Sanctuary. We are a haven of health and healing. We're here to face ourselves, our fears, and our attachments to our fears.

Thunder Mountain offers individuals and families a safe place to gather with kindred spirits to face and embrace our times and its opportunities. Together we strengthen our Bodies, Minds, and Spirits.

Now is the time for overcoming our fears by heading right into them and right through them. As our teachers our fears teach us to become totally attentive, to nurture and strengthen our Body/Minds, and to live from our Authentic Self. Please join us here at Thunder Mountain to become Weavers of Peace and Warriors of Love.
